Regulators with Relevance
Amaro & Associates leverages a step-wise approach to Process Improvement. An iterative four step cycle of control affords your organization regulators with relevance.
Relevance is the most important concept within the business environment today. The global nature of our environment makes relevance an elusive target.
We have helped High Performance Organizations figure out how to be relevant throughout time and when necessary, across geographical boundaries.
Traditional bureaucratic approaches such as feed-forward, concurrent and feedback controls are polished and made relevant to current work environments. This enables your organization to free itself from the downside of rigid control mechanisms such as being slow to act and poor customer service. The four step method includes:
Setting Performance Standards
Organizations have goals such as customer satisfaction, profitability, developing new technology and revenue generation. Alongside each goal should be a Standard – the level of expected performance for a given goal.
These standards provide your organization with necessary targets that drive performance levels, serve as motivators and establish the benchmarks against which to assess your actual performance.
Amaro & Associates, Inc. helps you to ensure that each standard is supported and works in conjunction with all elements of your control system.
Measuring Performance
A complete and honest assessment of performance will enable management to address issues as they arise. Performance data must be obtained, analyzed and then reported back to management in a timely basis. Amaro & Associates, Inc. analyzes written and oral reports in conjunction with personal observations to glean the necessary performance metrics.
Our experience analyzing processes of all types affords your organization a holistic analysis that highlights areas for improvement, areas for change and areas to emulate. A simple process of receiving packages can be fraught with manual, paper driven inefficiencies that can end up costing your organization thousands of dollars in hidden costs. After measuring the performance of this simple internal process, areas for cost savings as well as cost avoidance are surfaced.
Comparing Performance
A thorough comparison of the performance metric against the desired standard is delivered through the use of control charts. The process control chart enables management to see the uooer and lower levels of performance which indicate a controlled process. By plotting the performance metrics on the chart management can see performance over time.
Management can leverage various strategies such as Exceptions which states that control is enhanced by concentrating on the exceptions or significant deviations from the expected result or standard. In addition, new strategic methods can be employed by using the control charts such as the Breakthrough principle. Breakthrough occurs when a dramatic positive change is introduced to enhance performance to any stated goal. This external change impacts the process in such a way that new control points must be set.
GOAL AND PLAN Setting
Taking corrective action to address the significant deviations and events should come in the form of new or adjusted goals and plans. At this point change is introduced. Any change in a process or required behavior must be managed thoroughly in order to obtain the desired outcome.
The goals, plans and actions must also be in line with the overall goals and objectives of the company and carried out in the highest ethical manner. Amaro & Associates, Inc. principled-driven consultants will help you manage the change effort and guide the preparation and execution of the stated actions.
